The Last Paycheck
A grounded, unfiltered reflection on financial finality and personal weight. No drama, just the reality of standing in the present and choosing to stay upright.

Lyrics

Verse 1
Boxes stacked in the backseat, rain on the glass,
Clock on the wall said, “Time’s run fast.”
Badge on the dash, just a name and a ghost,
Didn’t think goodbye would cut this close.

Pre-Chorus
Neon flickers off the rain-slick street,
Tryin’ to outrun what the silence repeats.

Chorus
The last paycheck, folded and thin,
Barely enough for where I’ve been.
Dreams in the rearview, pride in a bind,
Drivin’ on fumes, leavin’ it behind.

Verse 2
Coffee gone cold, headlights blur,
Motel signs fade like who we were.
Every mile feels heavy and wide,
Tryin’ to remember when I felt alive.

Pre-Chorus
Still that hum keeps pullin’ me through,
Maybe there’s somethin’ past the blue.

Chorus
The last paycheck, folded and thin,
Barely enough for where I’ve been.
Dreams in the rearview, pride in a bind,
Drivin’ on fumes, leavin’ it behind.

Bridge
Windshield cracked, but I see clear,
Maybe loss is how I steer.
Not lookin’ back, just seein’ through,
The road ahead is somethin’ new.

Final Chorus (x2)
The last paycheck, folded and thin,
Paid my way to where I begin.
No more rearview, just open sky,
One more mile, and I’ll survive.
